“Wow! Did you hear they broke up?”
“Which couple?”
“Benedict and Wendy!”
“Hmm.. I heard!”
“It’s a witch that stole their relationship.”
“Witch? I think its rather a wizard! Because the way they broke up, only a wizard could have done it!”
Hahaa…
If you are the kind of person brought up in an African setting, I will bet you’ve heard many many times aunties and mothers proclaiming vehemently that witches or wizards were the reason why sister so-and-so had her marriage broken or brother such-and-such left his wife.
QEP does not deny that there are such principalities out there, however, today, in preparation towards your dreams, goals and even marriage; you need to understand that there are things seemingly more subtle that steals away your relationships or dream job than even the personality of a witch or wizard.
Let me show you the real thing that destroyed Benedict and Wendy’s relationship:
“Babe, I’m homeee!”
“- and so what?” (Thief number 1: Thief of Peace)
“What do you mean by that?” says Benedict, flaring up.
Wendy ignores him, coming down the stairs, “I have had a very long day today, I need to submit my thesis before going to work tomorrow.”
“You? You won’t be able to finish. I don’t think you can.” says Benedict, heading into the kitchen whilst bypassing his wife. (Thief number 2: Thief of Hope)
Crushed, Wendy dares to ask, “How did the meeting go? Will you get the contract?”
“Hmm… my little firm is competing with this big oil company for the contract-.”
“Really? Then I don’t think you will get it-.”
“- O yes- I don’t think I will.” (Thief number 3: Thief of Faith)
“If only we were like Carter and Becca. They have everything going for them. Can you believe she recently got promoted? And see where we are!” compared Wendy.
“Yes, their black Mercedes speeds faster than ours.” said Benedict.
Without realising it, all their joy had been drained because they had unknowing let in comparison which was the master thief of Joy.
Which thieves are you letting into your home, Queen?
Which thief are you letting into that job God blessed you with years ago which you are now comparing with what others have?
Perhaps like Benedict and Wendy you let in these subtle thieves of hope, joy, faith, peace, laughter, smiles, dance and everything great from God until finally you let in the grand thief of all, which is the thief of Love; causing the career, job, dream or relationship to come to an end.
In as much as the world says comparison is the thief of Joy, so does the Bible admonish us not to compare because it is not wise!
“Oh don’t worry; we wouldn’t dare say that we are as wonderful as these other men who tell you how important they are! But they are only comparing themselves with each other, using themselves as the standard of measurement; they are not wise!” (NLT 2 Corinthians 10:12)
It’s interesting how Jesus describes the thief!:
“The thief comes only to steal to kill and destroy;-” (NIV John 10:10)
He steals your joy, kills your hope for life and completely destroys your faith for life!
Don’t allow these thieves into your life, Queen!
Don’t allow anything to steal the treasures God have given you!
Fight to stay joyful!
Fight to stay hopeful! Be full of faith! Let the love of God be shed abroad in your heart:
“…I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full (NIV John 10:10)
Jesus has come to give you life- to fill in the gaps of any joy, peace or hope the enemy may have stolen. Partner with Him on this!
