Kendra screamed as another wave of contraction passed over her.
She tried to remember the breathing exercises she had learnt during the classes she took to prepare her for birthing her child. Yet as she recalled, practicing the lamaze technique had actually been funny, so much so that usually she ended up having fits of laughter whilst doing so. However, no one had told her about this pain… or that this pain could cause her to forget everything she had ever learnt.
“Kendra… don’t waste the pain…! When the contraction comes you need to push! You need to push through the pain-.” urged the midwives.
“What?!” groaned Kendra. In that moment, the advice of the midwives sounded so foolish. How can she keeping pushing though this pain? It made no sense!
She just wanted to give up!
Still she knew, that if she wanted to see her baby girl, she would have to obey.
So she pushed.
… and pushed…
“- and pushed!”
“WAAAAA…”
Baby Kendra announces her presence into this world.
What a marvellous sight it was!
Pushing through the pain.
Sorry this post has caused you to enter into the labor ward but the hope is to capture a snippet of what it means to push through the pain.
Perhaps after reading the above scenario you are feeling like, “This isn’t for me, I am not going into the labour ward anytime soon…” or you are giving yourself some other reason why this shouldn’t matter to you. However, if you will take a moment to reflect on life, you will realise that there comes seasons in life where you have to make a choice:
To push through? Or to Give Up.
Sadly many of us tend to choose the latter.
Yet Queen Esther Preparation is here to tell you to push through. Like Kendra, once you do so, you are bound to find yourself holding your beautiful baby- the product of all your dreams!
Queen, you are just one push away from your breakthrough! You are one push away from acquiring that contract for your company that you so desire, you are just one push away from opening your heart away for that new man to enter your life, you are just one push away from acing your finals!
Like anyone that visits the gym, they understand the need to push through with the weights in order to be healthier!
Queen Esther knew about this push. By the second day of her 3 day fast to gain favour for the Jews, She could easily have said, look at me, I am a queen! What am I doing starving myself? I won’t participate in this fast again. What if this fast doesn’t work? I won’t do this anymore…”
Thankfully, she didn’t say this and instead said:
Esther sent back her answer to Mordecai: “Go and get all the Jews living in Susa together. Fast for me. Don’t eat or drink for three days, either day or night. I and my maids will fast with you. If you will do this, I’ll go to the king, even though it’s forbidden. If I die, I die.” Esther 4 MSG
She pushed through!
What are you facing right now in life? What makes you think you cannot push through? Suffering from the messiest of breakups? Queen, you can push through even more gloriously. Suffered a loss? A miscarriage? A fail in an exam? Having a breakdown because you are overwhelmed with life? Hold to scripture and see God come through!
“But you, take courage! Do not let your hands be weak, for your work shall be rewarded!” 2 Chronicles 15:7 ESV
Take courage!
Press on!
The Lord is with you!
Push through, Queen!”
