The Pinocchio Type of Relationship

You know the story of Pinocchio?

The little wooden boy? The one that was created by a wood carver yet wanted to be a ‘real boy’ and so was given the condition that to become one he had to be truthful. However he had the habit of lying often!

Funny thing was that each time he lies his nose grew longer.

Chancing upon a copy of this book on Pinocchio this week, I was led to realise that noses have grown long with lies in many relationships these days.

Couples these days are hardly truthful with one another:

“Bae, me? I never asked that girl out!”

“Bae, my hair and nails are natural. I am a natural woman.”

“I know how to cook.”

“Bae, I am not cheating on you.”

Can you feel the noses growing longer?

As much as these words seem so innocent and may be said to save a relationship; they can be damaging if not dealt with immediately.

White lies?

Tiny tales told to save a relationship?

Don’t do that hun, tales and lies grow and will definitely destroy your relationship in the end.

There’s one couple in the Bible that shows us what a Pinocchio kind of relationship can be like.

Ananias and Sapphira.

This Pinocchio-relationship couple though!

They have told lies in their relationship for so long that now lying to the Holy Spirit seemed like a piece of cake to them!

But there was a certain man named Ananias who, with his wife Sapphira, sold some property. He brought part of the money to the apostles, claiming it was the full amount. With his wife’s consent, he kept the rest.

Then Peter said, “Ananias, why have you let Satan fill your heart? You lied to the Holy Spirit, and you kept some of the money for yourself. The property was yours to sell or not to sell, as you wished. And after selling it, the money was also yours to give away. How can you do a thing like this? You weren’t lying to us but to God!” As soon as Ananias heard these words, he fell to the floor and died … (NLT Acts 5: 1-5)

You will think that his wife would know better than to lie but see what happens next!

About three hours later his wife came in, not knowing what had happened

Peter asked her “Was this the price you received for your land?

“Yes, she replied, that was the price.

“And Peter said, “How could the two of you even think of conspiring to test the Spirit of the Lord like this?”

In other words, how could Sapphira’s nose grow as long as like Pinocchio like this?

In this Queen Esther Preparation be careful not to indulge in lies.

Don’t text lies:

Whether at the workplace,

Whether in pursuit of that dream job,

Whether gearing up to gain a position in society;

Be careful not to be like Ananias and Sapphira.

Be careful not to be the Ananias and Sapphira kind of couple.

Lies set things in motion and destroy causing demons to build their nests in lies.

Be sure to be trustworthy:

The Lord detests lying lips but he delights in people who are trustworthy Proverbs12:22

May God reveal every untrustworthy person in your relationship! (And who knows? He just might cause their noses to grow- hehe)

Live a lifestyle that is free of lies else be sure to gain a nose thats long enough to tell your tales of lies.

Don’t believe me, ask Pinocchio!

Jesus loves you and I do too,

Queens in Christ,
 ❤
