“Did you know…?”
“I heard that…!”
“I thought she was…!”
“They have ended it!”
“Is she not pregnant?”
“- see what has happened to her…!”
And on and on and on…
Perhaps in your season of preparation, you are being faced with a situation or situations where it feels like all are saying things about what you are going through to everyone but you-
Hahaa..
Never you mind, Naomi went through the very same thing.
So the two women went on until they came to Bethlehem. When they arrived in Bethlehem, the whole town was stirred because of them, and the women said, “Is this Naomi?” (ESV Ruth 1:19)
As the story in the Book of Ruth goes, Naomi left Bethlehem with her husband and sons during famine in search of plenty. I will bet that whilst she was away, the news circulating was that;
“Have you heard Naomi has plenty corn now? I hear she’s selling maize now too! No wonder her name means pleasantness.”
Possibly this news was passed around with a touch of envy and then suddenly disaster strikes; Naomi loses her husband and two sons and returning to Bethlehem, all she had was her daughter in law- a Moabite! What good can come from that?!
“Is this Naomi?,’ the women began to whisper, “Is this pleasantness?” they said in hush tones. “What happened to all the pleasant things God did for her?”
And instigated by the things the women said, Naomi wanted to change her name to Mara which means bitterness (Ruth 1:30)
In this Queen Esther Preparation journey, one major thing you need to be mindful of is what you say.
What are you saying about the circumstances surrounding you? Are you just speaking the situation or are you speaking life? Hope? Joy? Peace?
If you read scripture, what women have said have brought much war- in the case of Saul and David, its even been what women have sung!
When the men were returning home after David had killed the Philistine, the women came out from all the towns of Israel to meet King Saul with singing and dancing, with joyful songs and with timbrels and lyres. As they danced, they sang:
“Saul has slain thousands, and David tens of thousands.”
What the women said in this song alone, stirred up the enmity which arose in Saul’s heart towards David!
Maybe, at your workplace, church, school- there is someone going through something- don’t join the gang to talk idly about it.
Even in preparation towards marriage; allow yourself to realise that what you say can make or break your king.
Queen Esther knew of this, which is why unlike Vashti, she wasn’t as tactless to say no to the King’s authority.
Evidently, in this journey of Queen Esther Preparation, I am going to devote my time to scripture more than anything else, and I hope you do same, so that we can be careful with what we say:
Watch what you say, Queen!
Jesus loves you and I do too,
Queens in Christ,
❤
Great word. God bless you☺
All Glory to Jesus!
You encourage me. May God bless you abundantly!
In Jesus name, Amen.
