It is said that the most important thing for any bride on her wedding day, is her dress/gown.
It is the thing, they say, that makes the bride feel most beautiful. How true this may be, is relative, I guess. However, after a friend went bridal dress shopping and sent me pictures of the dresses she loved, I couldn’t help but to think to myself, “How really does a bride choose her dress?”
What goes into the choice of dress? What goes into a bride saying, “This is what I will wear on this day,” Be it a ball gown style or a mermaid style with lots of frills?
And the answer to this was, a bride will choose (especially if she can afford it), whatever will make her most happy!
She will choose whatever she believes will make her feel most radiant on that day!
Immediately I was prompted that the careful way in which anyone (not just brides) chooses what to wear is the same way one should be especially mindful about what dress or clothing one places on in the realms of the Spirit.
In preparation towards marriage, career, dreams, goals or plans; we must be mindful of what it is we put on spiritually:
“… the garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness…” (KJV Isaiah 61:3)
“Put on the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil.” (KJV Ephesians 6:11)
As you walk through this life, you need to put on that which is joyful against that which causes you to be depressed always. You need to realise that as the bride of Christ, He is mindful of what you put on!
Perhaps for you, you have chosen clothing of unemployment, of miscarriages, of heartbreak. You have put on dress of sadness, garments of depression but God wants you to know today that as the bride of Christ, He wants to give you better!
Don’t believe me? See what happened with Joshua in Zechariah 3!
“Then he showed me Joshua the high priest standing before the angel of the Lord, and Satan standing at his right hand to accuse him.
And the Lord said to Satan, The Lord rebuke you, O Satan! The Lord who has chosen Jerusalem rebuke you! Is not this a brand plucked from the fire?
Now Joshua was standing before the angel, clothed with filthy garments.
And the angel said to those who were standing before him, “Remove the filthy garments from him.” And to him he said, “Behold, I have taken your iniquity away from you, and I will clothe you with pure garments.” (ESV Zechariah 3:1-4)
See? God was so concerned with what Joshua had on that He changed the filthy garments of Joshua to pure garments.
Perhaps for so long you have worn the filthy garments of the guilt of abortion; you have worn the filthy garments of shame for sleeping with over 100 men or women but today, like Joshua, God wants to remove those filthy garments and grant you one purer than a bride’s:
Partner with Christ to teach you how to choose the perfect dress and don’t worry, it will be your taste:
